FACULTY/DEPARTMENTAL ORIENTATION PROGRAMMES FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS ADMITTED IN THE 2016/2017
SESSION: CHANGE OF DATE
Please refer to our memorandum UN/SPGS/S.1/3 of 25th March, 2017 on the above subject and the attached schedule for the orientation of postgraduate students admitted in the 2016/2017 session. This is to inform you that the date of the above orientation programme has been postponed to 15th May, 2017 to enable postgraduate students who were offered late admissions participate in the orientation.
Concept Note:
The Departments and Faculties are required to organize orientation programmes for their fresh postgraduate students admitted in the 2016/2017.
The orientation programme should be designed to familiarise the newly admitted students with the University and its postgraduate programmes. It should also provide a forum to enlighten the students on the postgraduate rules/regulations, and introduce them to the available facilities/ resources at Departmental and Faculty levels. Furthermore, the students are to be exposed to motivational ideas that will make for successful studentship in the University of Nigeria.

Heads of Department and Deans of Faculty are enjoined to ensure that the orientation programmes in their Departments and Faculties are executed and implemented in accordance with the above schedule. Please, inform all who will address the students during the orientation programme in good-time to enable them prepare their talks. Also inform the concerned fresh students in your Department/Faculty who will participate in the orientation.
